How You Are Expected To Act on a Cruise 3
Another thing you might want to think about is not taking a lot of valuables with you on cruises. By all means dress up nicely, but there is no need for a lot of jewels.
Nor should you bring every single piece of portable electronic equipment than you own. If you cherish your valuables, do not take them along with you on cruises. Use common sense when it comes to packing and taking care of yourself and your belongings any time that you leave home for any period of time.
If you don’t want to lose it, then don’t bring it, should be the rule of thumb.
If you get off the ship, be aware of local laws and customs, and be vigilant at all times. Make sure you know when you have to be back and don’t get lost. Also make sure that you are as vigilant as you would be about your own safety back home–no dark alleys or iffy looking neighborhoods, please, not even in daylight.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who prey on tourists whom they think are quite wealthy compared with them, and believe me, if you have a little map or guide book with you, you are an obvious tourist, and thus an obvious target.
Watch your digital cameras, money and credit cards at all times, and don’t be distracted. Go with your gut feeling. Shopping for ‘bargains’ will be anything but if the stuff is rubbish and you get your pocket picked in the process.
Again, be courteous to all locals-just because they are different does not mean they are inferior, and again, be careful of things like excessive drinking, which can get you into trouble with the local authorities.
Exercise some common sense, instead of letting it ALL hang out, and you and your cruise comrades should have a super time.
